Keyloggers can be counted among the numerous threats that lurk on the Internet. The purpose of these malicious applications is to record your keystrokes, as well as mouse clicks, clipboard contents and more. An antivirus program may detect and remove them, but knowing that such threats exist would make you think twice before typing a password or a bank account. If you feel uneasy typing sensitive information, even with the latest security measures installed on your computer, then you should use Oxynger KeyShield. It provides you with a virtual keyboard, which is protected against keystroke logging, screenshots and even mouse logging.

The application is offered free of charge, but you can make a donation if you want to support future developments. It is compatible with all popular Windows versions and it provides support for a wide variety of web browsers, encryption programs, password managers and other software.

Oxynger KeyShield's main user interface is a virtual keyboard, which you can use to type in your passwords or other sensitive details. The keyboard will stay on top of any other windows at all times, so you can select any input fields, on your web browser or other programs, and start clicking the virtual keys. Keylogging applications will not be able to pick up any keystrokes as long as you type with Oxynger KeyShield.

Other built-in security measures will protect your keystrokes against screen capturing and mouse logging applications. Oxynger KeyShield's screen capture protection is the reason why you won't see the main user interface in this review's screenshots and video. If you attempt to take a screenshot or record the screen, the interface will be censored instantly.

Although you can't see the letters on the keyboard while recording the screen, one could still guess what buttons you click, based on the mouse cursor's position. This is why Oxynger KeyShield comes with the aforementioned mouse logging protection feature. If enabled, this function will scramble the letters and numbers on the keyboard. You can generate random key layouts multiple times, on the application's general settings menu.

Oxynger KeyShield can also protect your keystrokes against the simplest spying method, which is overlooked by most security applications. If someone is looking over your shoulder, you may select a few options, on the general settings menu, to disable key highlighting and make all numbers and letters smaller. It is also possible to replace the mouse cursor with a small black dot, which is impossible to see from a distance.

Pros

The application can protect your keystrokes against various capturing methods, including shoulder surfing. The virtual keyboard will not show up in any screenshots, recordings or on remote control applications.

Cons

There are no clear drawbacks to speak of. While using Oxynger KeyShield, no one will be able to capture your keystrokes, regardless of what methods they employ.
